Presta Valve Adapter
PRESTA TO SCHRAEDER BICYCLE INNER TUBE VALVE BRASS ADAPTERAlthough the use of a Presta valved tube is considered the high performance way to go, it requires that you have, and carry with you a pump fit to inflate Presta valves. If on the road your pump fails, falls off your bike, or you choose not to carry one, you will probably have to fill your tire at a gas (petrol) station where they will only have a Schraeder fitting air chuck. To accomplish this you will need a Presta to Schraeder adapter. The adapter is machined from brass rod stock and threads over the top of the Presta valve "building" out its shape to that of the Schraeder valve. The interior of the adapter has a compression O-ring to form a tight seal. Generally, Presta valve users carry one of these screwed onto one of the two tire valves, it weighs just 3.5 grams. |
