Here are exact directions from the San Jose
Santa Clara / Sunnyvale / Mtn View / Palo Alto / San Mateo
There are three variations
the 101 North Route
- Highway 680, Highway 880, the Montague Expressway and Highway 237 all intersect Highway 101. Use one of these to find and take Highway 101 north bound.
- You will drive past or through on the freeway... Santa Clara, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo ans South San Francisco. If you live in any of these cities continue to follow these directions.
- When you reach the San Francisco International Airport take the turn off just north of the airport onto Highway 380 which heads west
- A half mile onto 380 turn north onto Highway 280. This freeway takes you into San Francisco, through Golden Gate Park, where the name changes to 19th Avenue. If you don't turn at any time, this same road (280/19th Ave) will take you to the Golden Gate Bridge.
- Cross the bridge and you are now on Highway 101 again, (the name changes back) in Marin county. Continue on 101 for about 45 minutes and you will come to Sonoma County, in the Redwood Empire / Wine Country part of California. (Korbel Winery is nearby).
- When you reach Santa Rosa, you will need to pass the "fairgrounds", and the "Downtown" exits.
- The next freeway exit will be "College Avenue" take this exit and turn left at the stop light so you are now heading west.
- An eighth of a mile ahead you come to the second stop light at Cleveland Ave, turn right at the light so are going North.

the 280 (Junipero Serra Fwy) North Route
- Highway 680, Highway 880, the Montague Expressway and Highway 237 all intersect Highway 280 which is slightly west of 101 and somewhat more scenic. Use one of these to find and take Highway 280 north bound.
- You will drive past on the freeway and never know they were there... Santa Clara, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo ans South San Francisco. Highway 84 and 92 bring you east to a few of these cities and surface streets can be used to reach them. If you live in any of these cities take 280 northward and continue to follow these

the 880 North Route
- Highway 237, Highway 84, and Highway 92 all intersect Highway 880 which travels up the east side of the San Francisco Bay. Use one of these to find and take Highway 880 north bound.
- Take Highway 880 north
- You will drive past on the freeway and never know they were there... Milpitas, Fremont, Newark, Union City, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Oakland, Albany. If you live in any of these cities take 880 northward and continue to follow these
- In the San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Oakland, Albany area the 880 Freeway becomes known as "Highway 17".
- Once you reach Oakland be certain to stay on Highway 17 heading north
- Change lanes so that you are left most or fast lane
- Stay on Highway 17 and follow north and west to the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge which is infrequently called the Hoffman Bridge.
- Cross the San Francisco/San Pablo Bay using this bridge there will be a $1 toll
- You will now be on Highway 101 again, in San Rafael, Marin county. Continue on 101 for about 30 minutes and you will come to Sonoma County, in the Redwood Empire / Wine Country part of California.
- When you reach Santa Rosa, you will need to pass the "fairgrounds", and the "Downtown" exits.
