Archival Review of Suntour Brakes

SUNTOUR SUPERBE BRAKESET

This is the standard for road racing brake sets. Perfect satin finished aluminum calipers and precision machined hardware. This brakeset has aero style brake levers with return springs. They use the Dia-Compe Balanced Response System. The calipers have easy to use, rubber ringed, convenience adjusters and a rotating, cam style quick release.

Typically the quick release on a caliper set is either open or closed, however with these, when your wheel goes out of true in the middle of a ride with this brake you can open the release, slightly to accommodate the wheel wobble and the brakes will still work perfectly. The caliper has tire guides at the bottom of the brake pad for quick changes. Brake centering adjustments are done just once using an allen wrench on the front of the caliper.

These were available as short reach only. (the pads can be 39 to 49mm from the brake pivot bolt) Truly beautiful brakes, these will give years of enjoyment and pleasure with use. The complete brakeset as it would be on the bike weighs 751 grams, (levers-249 grams, calipers-363 grams, cables-139 grams).

No longer made, we sold these for $199.99
